Want To Know How It Works…Behind the Scenes?

Three Tips to Help You Make a Wise Decision

I thought aromatherapy was nothing more than a great smelling candle that made my allergies act up, made the house smell good, and was nothing but watered down liquid of some sort. I was correct! That’s true for about 95% of the oils on the market. However, what I found out during my extensive research, various educational classes, and resources – is that there are some high quality oils that have helped many naturalist continue living a chemical free, healthy lifestyle. They choose to use various alternatives for headaches, infections, viruses, pains and aches, and much more.

Making wise choices when choosing an essential oil can be as simple as answering three questions.

  1. Why do I want an essential oil? Fragrance or Benefit
  • Are you looking for a cheap fragrance, no health benefits and just want to make the house smell good?
  • Are you looking for health benefits to give yourself the ability to manage occasional pain and stress, immune support, antioxidant support, skin health, digestive support, uplift your mood? You get the picture!
  1. How is the oil produced? Behind the scenes -How the oil is produced will determine the use of the oil.
  • Oils distilled at rapidly, high temperatures in an attempt to squeeze out every drop (“cooking” the plant at high temps will kill a majority of the health benefits – but you already know cooking at high temps kills almost everything) will produce larger batches of more fragrant oils. Meaning a cheaper oil distilled for commercial use – a fragrance that does not have the health benefits.
  • Oils distilled for health properties are distilled at slower temps (to retain the integrity of the oil), takes many hours to “cook”, and only about 70% of the oil is able to be distilled from that plant material. The other 30% of the oil left in the plant is not able to be distilled at such a low temp. Distillation in this way prevents compromising the health benefits. This gives you a premium quality oil - but that quality is not cheap!
  1. How much am I willing to pay? What quality and benefits do you want?
  • Looking for cheap – most essentials oils on the market have been commercially processed, diluted, chemically processed, synthetics added – the list goes on. Fragrant oils are cheap and easy to find.
  • Looking for high quality – only a few companies process their oils for health properties, but you will pay a premium for that quality. Value demands a higher price because of the sacrifice made. Are you willing to make a health investment in yourself?
Answer these questions honestly and you will make a wise, happy and satisfied choice you can live with!

Can't Find the Trees 'Cause the Forest Slaps You In the Face? It's OK - If It's a Lemon Forest!

That's how I feel sometimes searching the massive "internet library" and resources I own; however when I find an outstanding bit of information - I can't  help but share with others of like mindedness.
BioMed Research International has given us "food for thought" in a "natural" way when it focused on essential oils in this 23 page report, "Essential Oils and Their Constituents as Anticancer Agents: A Mechanistic View". (Interested in reading this report?) Most people are seeking ways to support their body system in a more natural way rather than using harsh chemicals that seem to create other problems and side effects. I'm thrilled that scientist are exploring alternative options, according to BioMed, "Recently, in the last decade, essential oils (EOs) have been under study for their use in cancer therapy and the present review is an attempt to collect and document the available studies indicating EOs and their constituents as anticancer agents."
One of those alternatives is lemon essential oil. Yes, you read that correctly - lemon essential oil is the alternative being studied. According to Why Science is Sweet on Lemon Essential Oil as a Cancer Fighter"*, "Chinese scientists extracted lemon essential oil and tested it on a series of human cervical adenocarcinoma cell lines. They found that the oil not only blocked the cancer cell lines from spreading, but also inhibited oxidizing free radicals from harming healthy cells."

What's Medicine Got to Do With It?

What's Medicine Got to Do With It?

NOTHING!! Essential Oils cannot be classified as a medicine, nor can it be prescribed - unless your goal is to go to jail!  The practice of medicine means the diagnosis, treatment, prevention, cure or relieving of human disease.  I am required to speak FDA compliantly - meaning that I am not a doctor, I don't treat or prescribe; therefore I can't make "claims". When a person sells any product - they can't "make claims" even if it is true; which is strange. So, now, when I teach or talk about oils - I speak generically - and I don't name the brand. If a person asks me what brand I use - then I tell them, and talk about the oils FDA compliantly. That is why I like www.organicfacts.net - it is a great resource, they don't sell oils and it tells some of the medical applications that oil can be used for. The only problem, it doesn't tell how to use them or give testimonies. I have lots of resource as far as books, and classes I have taken - there is sooo much more information.

Oils aren't medicines, foods aren't medicines, exercises aren't medicines, supplements aren't medicines - that's what the FDA states - but all of those things surely help the body! God gave us plants for healing and oils are plants - we need to know how to use them. Don't you agree?  However, I can educate you on the differences! So, what is the difference, then, between a drug and an essential oil? According to Dr. David Stewart, Ph.D., Why Oils Heal and Drugs Don't, some of the differences are:
  • Drugs and oils work in opposite ways. Drugs toxify. Oils detoxify.
  • Drugs clog and confuse receptor sites. Oils clean receptor sites.
  • Drugs depress the immune system. Oils strengthen the immune system. Antibiotics attack bacteria indiscriminately, killing both the good and the bad. Oils attack only the harmful bacteria, allowing our body’s friendly flora to flourish.
  • Drugs are designed to send misinformation to cells or to block certain receptor sites in order to trick the body into giving up symptoms. But drugs never deal with the actual causes of disease. They aren't designed for that purpose. While they may give prompt relief for certainuncomfortable symptoms, because of their strange, unnatural design, they will always disrupt certain other bodily functions. Thus you always have some side effects."

Do You Like Home Invasions?? Here's a Light Bulb Moment for You . . .

Do You Like Home Invasions??

Have you thought of blogging as a side business? I bet you haven't thought about it like this . . .

“I didn’t have the energy to do the home party  invasions. Instead…I blogged. People found my story, they found my business, and connected with me.”
First you need a business (I don’t care what business you choose – just choose one) or else you are just blogging. Once you have found a business that you love --- blog!!  Light bulb moment, ya’ll!
 – Angela Brook explains how to do it!! Writing might not be your thing, but I believe this is the answer for all of us honest, hard working people!
....“The secret traffic conversion formula is to get them off of social media and onto your blog. You own your blog and you own the leads that come to your blog, that is your traffic. Social media is a public playground that people go to visit and to hang out. They can block your account, they can limit what you see, what you do and who can find you. Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram are the same way.

When I see people spending their time on social media and ignoring the true part of their business it makes me cover my eyes and scream ‘NO!”  “  Angela Brooks blog site
